Bridgeport, Conn.-The nation's number one ranked Division II men's soccer team, the Franklin Pierce University Ravens scored four first half goals and added one more in the final 45 minutes to defeat the host University of Bridgeport Purple Knights, 5-1, in non-conference action at Knights Field on Tuesday evening. With the victory, FPU is now a perfect 12-0-0 on the season. UB is now 3-6-2 overall.
The Purple Knights became just the third team this season to find the back of the net versus the Ravens when senior Jesses Clark (Stamford, Conn.) scored his team-leading fourth goal of the year with just over four minutes to play in the match when he put home a rebound off a Wariebi Jituboh (Grad., Houston, Tex.) shot.
Senior goalkeeper Marcus Carrington (Hamden, Conn.) faced 20 shots on the night making four saves including stopping a Raven's penalty kick in the second half. FPU outshot UB, 20-6, on the night, and also took 11 corners to only two by the Purple Knights.
Up next, the UB men's soccer team continues its four-match homestand on Saturday at 12 noon hosting the Daemen College Wildcats in East Coast Conference action.
