Bridgeport, Conn.-The University of Bridgeport men's soccer team picked up its first win of 2021 on Saturday night, as the Purple Knights opened East Coast Conference play with a 1-0 home win over the Queens (N.Y.) College Knights. UB is now 1-2-2 overall and 1-0-0 in the ECC. Queens is now 3-2-0 overall and 0-1-0 in conference play.
Senior Hannes Nilsson (Tors, Sweden) scored the only goal of the match in the 27th minute of play when he fought his way through the Knights' defense and found the back of net for his first tally of the season.
UB goalkeeper Clement Anet (Grad., Cosse le Vivien, France) made Nilsson's goal stand up as the game-winner making three saves to record his second clean sheet of 2021.
On the night, UB held a 13-11 advantage in shots; while the Knights took eight corner kicks to Bridgeport's four.
