Springfield, Mass.-The University of Bridgeport men's soccer team was just three seconds away from a 1-0 loss in the squad's 2021 road opener on Sunday at American International College, but junior Chigozie Okorie (Houston, Tex.) found the back of the net for his second goal of the season off an assist from sophomore Ozar Razo (Hidalgo, Tex.) to tie things up at 1-1 at the 89:57 mark, and the Purple Knights and Yellow Jackets would then finish in a 1-1 draw after two overtimes. With the tie, UB is now 0-1-1 on the young season. AIC is now 1-0-1.
The host team grabbed a 1-0 lead in the first half at the 33:30 mark, and that how the match stayed until Okorie's heroics.
Graduate student Clement Anet (Cosse le Viven, France) faced 16 shots and made four saves on the day. As a team, the Purple Knights took 14 shots toward the Yellow Jackets net on Sunday.
Up next, the UB men's soccer team closes out a two-match road swing at Southern Connecticut State at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday night.
