Bridgeport, Conn.-The University of Bridgeport men's soccer team saw its two-match winning streak come to an end on Saturday afternoon, as the visiting University of the District of Columbia Firebirds scored the only goal of the match just 5:37 into play and held on from there to post a 1-0 East Coast Conference in the Park City on a hot Homecoming Saturday afternoon. UB is now 3-4-0 overall and an even 1-1-0 in ECC play. UDC moves to 2-6-0 overall and 1-0-0 in conference action.
Bridgeport dominated the shot totals on the day, 22-8, but the Purple Knights could not find the back of the net as Firebirds' keeper Javier Abadia made five saves. UB goalkeeper, freshman Felipe Dias (Bridgeport, Conn.) also made five stops on the day seeing his first action of 2019.
The Purple Knights also held an 11-3 edge in corner kicks in the match.
Up next, the UB men's soccer team will step out of East Coast Conference play and travel to Dominican (N.Y.) College on Monday afternoon for a non-conference match-up.
