Bridgeport, Conn.-The University of Bridgeport men's soccer team dominated much of the run of play on Saturday afternoon in an East Coast Conference tilt versus Molloy College at Knights Field, but it was the visiting Lions that scored the only goal of the contest when Kenneth Garcia netted a phenominal tally off a long strike to the upper left corner of the net with just 4:35 to play in the second half, as Molloy topped UB, 1-0. Bridgeport is now 1-3-2 overall and 1-1-0 in the ECC. Molloy is now 3-3-1 overall and 2-0-0 in conference play.
The Purple Knights outshot the Lions, 16-4, on the afternoon, and took six corner kicks to Molloy's two.
Graduate student Wariebi Jituboh (Houston, Tex.) and sophomore Ozar Razo (Hidalgo, Tex.), each had three shots to lead UB.
Bridgeport goalkeeper Clement Anet (Cosse le Vivien, France) made one save on the day, and Molloy's Nick Conklu made six saves to post the shutout.
Up next, the UB men's soccer team hits the road for an East Coast Conference match at Mercy College on Wednesday afternoon. Game time is set for 3:00 p.m.
