Rockville Centre, N.Y.-The University of Bridgeport men's soccer team scored a single-match, season-high six goals on Saturday afternoon, as the Purple Knights held on for a 6-4 East Coast Conference road win over the host Molloy College Lions. With the win, Bridgeport is now 4-9-1 overall and 3-4-1 in the ECC. Molloy slips to 5-10-0 overall and 3-5-0 in conference play.
UB got four first half goals to lead 4-1 at the half, as Jovante Etienne (Fr., Ajax, Ontario Canada), Moritz Klein (Aachen, Germany), Dominick Roberge (Sr., New Hyde Park, N.Y.) and Goncalo Mendes (Vila do Conde, Portugal) all found the back of the net.
In the final 45 minutes of play, senior Femi Coker (Johannesburg, South Africa) and sophomore Yoel Salvador (Bridgeport, Conn.) added goals for the winners.
Bridgeport got assists from Eitenne, Coker, Mendes and senior Jay Abreu (Sao Paulo, Brazil) off a corner kick on the day.
Junior Juan Munoz (Bogota, Colombia) made five saves to record the win in net.
Up next, the UB men's soccer team will wrap up the 2017 regular season next Saturday afternoon, October 28 when they host LIU Post in a Senior Day match. Game time is set for 3:00 p.m.
