Bridgeport, Conn.-The visiting Southern Connecticut State University Owls scored three first half goals and added two more in the second half to top the host University of Bridgeport Purple Knights, 5-1, in match two of the 2017 UB Men's Soccer Classic on Thursday night in the Park City. SCSU is now 2-0-0 on the young season, and Bridgeport slips to 1-2-0. In the opening match of the Classic, LIU Post defeated Merrimack, 1-0.
The Purple Knights' lone goal of the evening came just over 30 seconds into the second half when freshman Moritz Klein (Aachen, Germany) headed home his second goal of the season off a free kick from sophomore Erlend Skagestad (Mjoendalen, Norway).
On the night, Southern Connecticut State outshot UB, 15-7.
Up next, the Bridgeport men's soccer team will play Merrimack at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday to close out the 2017 UB Men's Soccer Classic. SCSU will face LIU Post at 4:00 p.m. that same day at Knights Field.
