Men's Soccer Sees 2015 Season End With Loss Versus LIU Post In ECC Semifinals
Purple Knights Wrap Up Season At 10-7-0 Overall
Brookville, N.Y.-The University of Bridgeport men's soccer team saw its 2015 season come to a close on Wednesday afternoon with a 6-2 loss to host LIU Post in the East Coast Conference Championship Tournament Semifinals. UB, the number four seed in the ECC Tournament, finished the season at 10-7-0 overall, and the top-seeded Pioneers advance to the ECC Finals on Friday versus NYIT with a 12-2-2 overall mark.
The host Pioneers got just 56 seconds into play, but the Purple Knights came right back to tie things at 1-1 at the 2:18 mark when senior Erick Romero (Norwalk, Conn.) netted his third goal of the year with a long blast past the Pioneers' goalkeeper on the short side.
Unfortunately for UB fans, LIUP would score the next three goals in the first half to take a 4-1 lead into the lockeroom at the half.
The host Pioneers would extend their lead to 6-1 before sophomore Femi Coker (Johannesburg, South Africa) found the back of the net for the fourth time in 2015 when he put home a rebound off of a shot by Romero at the 83:12 mark to make the final score 6-2.
