Bridgeport, Conn.-The University of Bridgeport men's soccer team picked up its fourth straight win and upped its overall record 7-1-0 and its East Coast Conference mark to 3-0-0 with 1-0 home conference win over the University of the District of Columbia Firebirds on Saturday afternoon. With the loss, UDC slips to 1-6-1 overall and 0-3-0 in the ECC.
UB sophomore Lazar Baresic (Belgrade, Serbia) scored the only goal of the match, his first of the season, when he put home his own rebound off a shot that hit the post 18:56 into play.
That goal would be all the Purple Knights needed as junior goalkeeper Fabio Junior (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) picked up his fourth straight shut making four saves for the winners.
Louis Connor made five stops in net for the Firebirds.
On the day, UB outshot UDC by a slim, 15-13, margin.
Up next, the Purple Knights will continue a five-match homestand with a key East Coast Conference match versus LIU Post on Saturday, October 3. Match time at Knights Field is set for 3:00 p.m.
