Bridgeport, Conn.-The University of Bridgeport men's soccer team suffered its first loss of the 2015 on a rainy Saturday night at home, as the Purple Knights fell to the visiting Merrimack College Warriors, 4-1, in the final match of the 2015 University of Bridgeport Men's Soccer Classic. UB is now 3-1-0 on the season, and the Warriors remain unbeaten at 4-0-0.
After Merrimack scored twice in the first 20:49 of play, sophomore Femi Coker (Johannesburg, South Africa) netted his second goal of the year at the 21:03 mark.
The Warriors would strike right back just 22 second later with a goal to make the score 3-1 which would be the count at the half. The two teams tallied three goals in a span of only 37 second between the 20:48 and 21:25 marks of the opening half.
Merrimack's Augusto Silva would score the only goal of the second half on a penalty kick 15 minutes into the final stanza to give him a hat trick for the night and make the final score 4-1.
Up next, the UB men's soccer team will look to get back in the win column on Wednesday evening when the Purple Knights host local rival, Southern Connecticut State University. Kickoff is set for 6:00 p.m. at Knights Field.
