Bridgeport, Conn.-The University of Bridgeport men's soccer team notched its third straight shutout, and freshman Jhonah-George Felipe (Kailua, Hawaii) scored the only goal of the match with 12:28 to play in regulation, as the host Purple Knights topped the visiting Assumption College Greyhounds, 1-0, in the second match on day one of the 2015 University of Bridgeport Men's Soccer Classic. With the victory, UB is now 3-0-0 on the season. Assumption falls to 0-3-0 with all of the tam's losses coming by a single goal.
Felipe's game-winner came when he put home a pass from sophomore Lazar Baresic (Belgrade, Serbia). Both players involved in the scoring play for Bridgeport entered the match as substitutes in the second half.
UB freshman goalkeeper Daniel Coviella (Ribadesella, Spain) recorded his first solo clean sheet of the year making four saves.
Assumption keeper Dana King also made four stops for the Greyhounds.
Bridgeport returns to action on Saturday, September 12, when the Purple Knights will wrap up the 2015 University of Bridgeport Men's Soccer Classic with a 7:00 p.m. contest versus Merrimack College. Earlier on Thursday, Merrimack defeated LIU Post, 2-1.
