Old Westbury, N.Y.-Host NYIT raced out to a 3-0 lead just 25:51 into play and never looked back, as the East Coast Conference-leading men's soccer squad posted a 4-1 ECC win over the visiting University of Bridgeport Purple Knights. Saturday's action closed out a tough six-match road swing for UB, as the Purple Knights are now 4-9-0 overall and 3-5-0 in conference play. NYIT ups its overall mark to 11-1-1, and the Bears sit atop the East Conference standings at 7-0-1.
After, NYIT made the score 4-0 at the 72:34 mark of play, Bridgeport would get on the scoreboard with just over 10 minutes to play on what is currently being scored as an own goal but looked to many observers as a score by UB's Lazar Baresic (Fr., Belgrade, Serbia) from classmate Simon Haakansson (Stockholm, Sweden).
The Bridgeport men's soccer team will look to snap a five-match losing skid when the Purple Knights return home for two matches during the final week of the 2014 regular season. On Wednesday evening, October 29, UB opens that two-match homestand versus St. Thomas Aquinas at 6:00 p.m.
