Men's Soccer Blanks Roberts Wesleyan, 2-0
UB Now 6-5-0 Overall And 4-2-0 In ECC Play
Rochester, N.Y.-The University of Bridgeport men's soccer team climbed above the .500 mark for the first time this season with a big 2-0 East Coast Conference road win over the host Roberts Wesleyan College Redhawks on Friday night. After opening the 2013 season with four consecutive losses, the Purple Knights are now 6-5-0 overall and 4-2-0 in ECC action. The Redhawks slip to 2-9-1 overall and 1-5 in conference play.
Senior Christoffer Olesen (Kristiansand, Norway) got the Purple Knights on the scoreboard in the first half when he connected on a free kick at the 28:51 mark. Friday's goal is Olesen's third goal of the year, and his third in the team's last two matches.
In the second half, senior Han Park (Westbury, N.Y.) recorded his first goal of the year when he headed home a service from classmate Andreas Blanke (Gothenburg, Sweden) at the 66:46 mark of the contest.
UB junior goalkeeper Agustin Prados (Madrid, Spain) picked up his fifth shutout of 2013 making seven saves in net.
The Purple Knights will remain in Upstate New York for a Sunday tilt against East Coast Conference newcomer, the Daemen College Wildcats. Action gets underway in Amherst, New York at 1:30 p.m. on Sunday.
