Daniel Augenstein's Late Goal Lifts Men's Soccer To 1-0 ECC Win At St. Thomas Aquinas
Game Winner Comes With Just Over 11 Minutes To Play
Sparkill, N.Y.-Sophomore Daniel Augenstein (Sandnes, Norway) scored the only goal of the match with just over 11 minutes to play off an assist from senior Jonny Ortiz (Stamford, Conn.) to lift the University of Bridgeport men's soccer team to a tough 1-0 East Coast Conference road win over the host St. Thomas Aquinas College Spartans on an unseasonably warm October afternoon. The victory raises the Purple Knights overall record to 2-4-0, and the team is now 2-1-0 in conference play. STAC slips to 4-3-1 overall and an even 2-2-0 in the ECC.
Junior goalkeeper Agustin Prados (Madrid, Spain) recorded his second straight clean sheet of 2013 making four saves for the winners.
On the afternoon, the Purple Knights outshot the Spartans, 19-11.
The Bridgeport men's soccer team is back in action on Saturday at Molloy College when the Purple Knights will look to up their winning streak to three. Action is slated to begin at 5:00 p.m.
