Purple Knights Nipped By Number 22 Wilmington (Del.), 1-0. In Men's Soccer Action
Bridgeport Back In Action On Wednesday At Nyack
Bridgeport, Conn.-Wilmington (Del.) University's Tom Quaranta scored the only goal of the match 5:25 into the second half to lift the number 22-ranked Wildcats to a 1-0 win over the host University of Bridgeport Purple Knights on Saturday evening in the final contest of the 2013 UB Men's Soccer Classic. Saturday's tilt was also UB's 2013 home opener after its match on Thursday versus Bloomfield College was postponed due to severe weather.
Quaranta scored after a cross by teammate Elton Joe was back-healed to him by a Bridgeport defender, and his shot hit the left post and went in the net beating the Purple Knights' goalkeeper Agustin Prados (Jr., Madrid, Spain).
Prados made three saves on the night, and Wilmington's Frank Hall made five saves to pick up a clean sheet and his second win of 2013.
The Purple Knights outshot the Wildcats, 14-9, on the evening.
The UB men's soccer team will look for its first win of 2013 when the team travels to Nyack College on Wednesday afternoon. Action is slated to begin at 4:00 p.m.
