Second Half Goals By Christoffer Olesen And Lee Middleton Lift Purple Knights To The Victory
Bridgeport, Conn.-The University of Bridgeport men's soccer team ran its winning streak to five and stayed unbeaten in East Coast Conference play at 3-0-0 with a come-from-behind 2-1 home win over the visiting Queens (N.Y.) College Knights on Wednesday afternoon. The victory lifts the Purple Knights' overall record to 5-4-0. The loss drops QC to 3-2-2 overall and 1-1-1 in the ECC.
Queens would get the board first in the contest when Jose Lopez found the back of the net off a UB defensive miscue just 4:43 into the match.
The game would stay 1-0 into the second half when the Purple Knights would explode for two goals in a span of 3:09.
UB tied the game when junior Christoffer Olesen (Kristiansand, Norway) scored his second goal of 2012 at the 60:29 mark of the match off a corner kick from sophomore Juan Galarza (Danbury, Conn.).
Just 3:09 after tying the contest at 1-1, senior Lee Middleton (Newcastle, England) headed home what proved to be the game-winning goal off a beautiful cross from junior Clayton Ulmer (New Haven, Conn.). Middleton also scored the game-winning goal in the Purple Knights' 2-1 win at UDC on Saturday afternoon.
Bridgeport outshot Queens, 19-8 on the day, with 14 of those shots coming in the second half.
