UMass Lowell Tops Men's Soccer, 2-0
Purple Knights Back In Action Tuesday Afternoon At Bentley
Lowell, Mass.-The University of Bridgeport men's soccer team saw its record fall to 0-4-0 in the early going of the 2012 season, as the Purple Knights were defeated 2-0 by the host UMass Lowell River Hawks. The win raises UML season mark to 2-0-1. UB has been shut out in three of its four matches so far in 2012.
UMass Lowell got on the scoreboard at the 24:02 mark of action when Bridgeport scored an own goal off a corner kick. The River Hawks would score again just 1:02 later when Bruno Bonicontro netted his second goal of the year.
Chris Maierle made two saves to record the clean sheet for UML, and freshman Augustin Prados (Madrid, Spain) made two stops for Bridgeport. The River Hawks outshot the Purple Knights, 10-6, on the afternoon.
Bridgeport is back in action on Tuesday afternoon, September 11 at Bentley University. Game time in Waltham, Massachusetts is set for 3:30 p.m.
