Bentley Rallies To Top Men's Soccer, 4-3
Purple Knights Now 5-5-0 Overall
Bridgeport, Conn.-Weston Zeiner scored the game-winning goal for Bentley University with 8:29 to play in regulation as the Falcons came from behind twice to post a 4-3 non-conference men's soccer win over the host University of Bridgeport Purple Knights on Wednesday night. With the win, Bentley is now 7-2-1 overall. The loss evens UB's overall record at 5-5-0.
The Purple Knights got off to a quick 2-0 start in the match as sophomore Markus Naglestad (Kristiansand, Norway) and senior Patric Brundin (Gothenburg, Sweden) each scored in the first 12:13 of action. It was Naglestad's seventh goal of the season and Brundin's third tally so far in 2011. Markus and Patric each assisted on each other's goals.
Bentley then came back to tie the game at 2-2 heading into to halftime with goals 1:30 apart at the 36:01 and 37:31 marks of the first half.
The Purple Knights took the lead back at 3-2 when Naglestad sent a perfect corner kick to the foot of sophomore Christoffer Olesen (Randers, Denmark) in the 57th minute.
Bentley tied things at 3-3 at the 71:48 mark off a Tyler Kahn header which set up Zeiner's game winner just under 10 minutes later.
Bridgeport is back in action on Saturday afternoon when the Purple Knights return to East Coast Conference play at Molloy. Game time is set for 2:30 p.m.
