Linda Velaj And Markus Naglestad Named First Team Daktronics Inc. All-East Region Performers
Katie Stanley And Elin Svavarsdottir Named To Daktronics Al-East Region Second Team For Women's Soccer
Bridgeport, Conn. –Senior women's soccer standout Linda Velaj (Forward, Stamford, Conn.) and freshman men's soccer player Markus Naglestad (Forward, Kristiansand, Norway) have been selected as Daktronics Inc. First Team All-East Region performers in voting conducted among sports information directors at NCAA Division II institutions that are members of the Central Atlantic Collegiate, East Coast and Northeast 10 Conferences.
Velaj, who scored 20 goals and had seven assists for a total of 47 points this year as she helped the Purple Knights to the Second Round of the NCAA Division II Women's Soccer Championship Tournament, and Naglestad, who led UB to the East Coast Conference Men's Soccer Tournament Championship Final during a season in which he netted 15 goals and had nine assists for a total of 39 points, now move onto the national Daktronics Inc. ballots for possible selection as men's and women's soccer All-Americans. Both Linda and Markus were also named First Team All-East Coast Conference, and Naglestad was selected as the ECC Offensive Player and Rookie of the Year for 2010.
In women's soccer, junior Katie Stanley (Midfielder, Oxon, England) and senior Elin Svavarsdottir (Defender, Reykjavik, Iceland) were also named Second Team Daktronics Inc All-Region performers.
