UB Men's Soccer Tops Post University, 2-1, In Overtime
Markus Naglestad nets game-winner with just under one minute to play in first OT.
Bridgeport, Conn.-Freshman Markus Naglestad (Kristiansand, Norway) scored the game-winning goal with just under one minute to play in the first overtime to lift the University of Bridgeport men's soccer team to a 2-1 win over the Post University Eagles in a non-conference match played in Bridgeport on Tuesday night. With the win, the Purple Knights second straight overtime victory, Bridgeport is now 5-3-0 on the season, Post falls to 2-5-1 overall.
Post took a 1-0 lead in the match with just under 18 minutes to play in regulation when Francis Eno headed home a free kick from Matt Luis.
Bridgeport came back to tie things up at 1-1 just under three minutes later when freshman Taylor Backhaus (Ashford, Conn.) netted his second goal of the season off a pretty through ball from Naglestad, who now has a team-leading five assists on the year.
The UB men's team is back in action on Saturday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. when they return to East Coast Conference play with a match at C.W. Post University on Long Island.
