Men's Soccer Tops Caldwell, 3-1, In 2010 Season Opener
Hey Arnold!!! Hitoaliaj and Naglestad Help Lead UB To Victory In Match One Of 2010
Bridgeport, Conn.-Sophomore Arnold Hitoaliaj (Tirana, Albania/Bridgeport Central HS) scored two goals, and freshman Markus Naglestad (Kristiansand, Norway) netted one goal and had two assists to help lead the University of Bridgeport men's soccer team to a 3-1 season-opening home win over the Caldwell College Cougars on Thursday night at Knights Field.
Trailing 1-0 after Caldwell's Mosiah Whyte scored at the 18:31 mark, UB tied things at 1-1 when Naglestad scored off a free kick rocket just one minute and 20 seconds later.
Things would stay knotted a 1-1 until Hitolaj scored the first of his two goals, and what proved to be the game-winning tally, when he put home a rebound off another Naglestad bomb, with 3:02 to play in the first half.
Hitolaj would make the score 3-1, which proved to the final, when he and Naglestad again teamed up for a marker at the 62:17 mark.
Sophomore goalkeeper Danny Hernandez (Bay Shore, N.Y.) recorded the win for Bridgeport.
Caldwell keeper John Londono was outstanding in the contest keeping the Cougars in the match making nine saves. Bridgeport outshot the Cougars, 21-6, on the night.
UB will look to notch its second win of the 2010 season on Saturday night, when the Purple Knights host Felcian in the final match of the 2010 Bridgeport Men's Soccer Classic.
