Cross Country Squads Open Their 2022 Seasons At The Adelphi University Invitational
Teams Back In Action Next Saturday At Vassar
Bethpage, N.Y.-The University of Bridgeport women's and men's cross teams, under the direction of new head coach Gregg Schmidt, opened their 2022 campaigns on Friday afternoon at the Adelphi University Invitational that took place at the Bethpage Polo Grounds on Long Island. On the day, the UB women finished in 11th place, and the men's team took 15th in their race.
On the women's side, senior Alexandra Toth (Sandy Hook, Conn.) was the Purple Knights top finisher covering the 5K course in a time of 24:17.40, which placed her in the 41st scoring place. She was followed closely by freshman Emilia Russell (Kingston, U.K.), who turned in a time of 24:49.10 to finish in the 43rd scoring position.
Graduate student Bobby Sullivan (Trumbull, Conn.) was the top finisher for the Bridgeport men as he posted a time of 40:24.20 over the 8K course. Freshman Joshua Karyea (Nazareth, Pa.) was the next UB male finisher in a time of 43.37.00.
Up next, the UB cross country teams will compete in next Saturday's Ron Stonitsch Invitational hosted by Vassar College.
