Bridgeport Volleyball Advances To CACC Semifinals With Sweep Over Wilmington
Purple Knights Will Now Face Jefferson University On Saturday In The CACC Semifinals At 1 PM
Bridgeport, Conn.-The University of Bridgeport women's volleyball team advanced to Saturday's semifinals of the 2022 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Championship with a home quarterfinals sweep over the visiting Wildcats of Wilmington (Del.) University, 25-17, 25-22, 25-21. With the win, the Purple Knights will move on the face Thomas Jefferson University at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday at Holy Family University in Philadelphia, Pa. Saturday's other semifinal will feature Bloomfield taking on host Holy Family at 3:30 p.m.
Monday's victory ups UB's season record to 14-18. Wilmington closes out the 2022 campaign with an overall mark of 16-15.
Sophomore Paola Hernandez (Bayamon, P.R.) led Bridgeport with her ninth double-double of 2022 recording team-highs 13 kills with 12 digs.
Freshman Marissa Mullins (Circleville, Ohio) had a strong match at the net slamming 10 kills and adding six blocks (one solo).
Sophomore setter Jaden Drollinger (Queens Creek, Ariz.) had an excellent all-around match dishing off a match-high 34 assists and adding eight digs to go along with four kills and two block assists.
As a team, Bridgeport notched 10 blocks in the win.
Freshman Lucia Tomiello (Caltrano, Italy) helped the Purple Knights to Monday's triumph with seven kills, four service aces, four blocks (one solo) and three digs.
Freshman libero Isabella Carmona-Bailey (McKinney, Texas) reached double-digit digs on the UB backline with a total of 11 for the winners.
