Freshman Marissa Mullins Notches A Career-Best 21 Kills In UB Volleyball's Four-Set Win Over Caldwell
Purple Knights Now 6-5 In Conference Play
Bridgeport, Conn.-Freshman Marissa Mullins (Circleville, Ohio) slammed a career-high 21 kills and posted a .516 hitting percentage plus added four blocks on the night to help lead the University of Bridgeport women's volleyball team to a four-set, 22-25, 25-14, 25-22, 25-16, Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference home win over the visiting Caldwell University Cougars on Tuesday night in UB's Hubbell Gym. With the victory, the Purple Knights are now 7-15 overall and 6-5 in the CACC. Caldwell is now 5-12 overall and 4-6 in conference action.
Along with Mullins' 21 kills, sophomore Paola Hernandez (Bayamon, P.R.) with 13 and freshman Lucia Tomiello (Caltrano, Italy) with 11, also reached double-digit kills. Hernandez finished with a double-double on the night, as she also had 11 digs.
Sophomore setter Jaden Drollinger (Queens Creek, Az.) had a solid all-around match with 49 assists, eight digs, four kills, four service aces and a block assist for the winners.
Freshman libero Isabella Carmona-Bailey (McKinney, Tex.) had a strong night on the Bridgeport backline with a team-best 14 digs to lead the Purple Knights' defense.
