Balanced Offensive Attack Helps Bridgeport Volleyball To A 3-1 Home Win Over Georgian Court
UB Back In Action In Hubbell Gym On Tuesday Night Against Caldwell
Bridgeport, Conn.-The University of Bridgeport women's volleyball team used a balanced offensive attack, as three players reached double-digit kills, as the Purple Knights posted a 3-1 (25-14, 17-25, 25-21, 25-13) home win over the visiting Lions of Georgian Court University in Hubbell Gym on Saturday afternoon. With the victory, UB is now 6-15 overall and an even 5-5 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference play. GCU is now 7-12 overall and 3-5 in the CACC.
Freshman Marissa Mullins (Circleville, Ohio) led the Bridgeport offense with 16 kills, as she hit .500 on the day.
Classmate Lucia Tomiello (Caltrano, Italy) finished the afternoon with 14 kills and nine digs for the winners on Saturday, and sophomore Paola Hernandez (Bayamon, P.R.) rounded out the Purple Knights in double-figure kills with 10 in the four sets.
Sophomore Madison Jongsma (Sanford, Fla.) had a strong day on offense as well, as she slammed eight kills with a .583 hitting percentage, plus Madison added three block assists.
Bridgeport setter Jaden Drollinger (So., Queens Creek, Az.) added another double-double to her season tally sheet with a total 40 assists and 10 digs.
Freshman libero Isabella Carmona-Bailey (McKinney, Tex.) led the Bridgeport defense with 12 digs on the day.
Up next, the UB women's volleyball team closes out its current homestand looking to begin a winning streak on Tuesday night, when the Purple Knights host Caldwell University at 7:00 p.m.
