Volleyball's Comeback Falls Just Short At Jefferson
Purple Knights Drop CACC Tilt In Five Sets
Philadelphia, Pa.-The University of Bridgeport women's volleyball team fell just sort of a strong comeback road win on Saturday afternoon, as the Purple Knights fell in five sets to the host Thomas Jefferson University Rams, 22-25, 13-25, 25-21, 25-23, 15-17. UB is now 5-13 overall and an even 4-4 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference play. Jefferson is now 10-3 overall and 5-1 in conference play.
Sophomore Paola Hernandez (Bayamon, P.R.) led the UB offense with 18 kills on the afternoon, and she finished with a double-double recording 14 digs.
Freshman Lucia Tomellio (Caltrano. Italy) also had a double-double for the Purple Knights with 16 kills and 16 digs, and classmate Marissa Mullins (Centerville, Ohio) rounded out the UB trio in double-digit kills with 14, and she added four blocks.
Sophomore setter Jaden Drollinger (Queens Creek, Az.) directed the UB offense to the tune of a season-high 53 assists and finished with her own double-double adding 10 digs.
Freshman Isabella Carmona-Bailey (McKinney, Tex.) led the Bridgeport defense with 21 digs in the match, and junior Hailey Andrews (Southington, Conn.) also had a strong day on the UB backline notching 14 digs.
Up next, the UB volleyball continues its current road swing on Monday night with a non-conference match at Bentley University. Game time is set for 7:00 p.m.
