Offense Clicks On All Cylinders As UB Volleyball Sweeps Post In CACC Action
Team Hits A Season-Best .350 In The Win
Waterbury, Conn.-The University of Bridgeport women's volleyball team had its offense clicking on all cylinders on Tuesday nights, as the Purple Knights hit a season-high .350 as team committing only eight attack errors all night on 100 attempts with 43 kills in a straight-sets, 25-19, 25-19, 28-26, road Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference victory overall local rival, the Post University Eagles. With the win, UB is now 3-3 in conference play and 4-12 overall. The Eagles slip to 4-11 overall and 2-5 in the CACC.
Freshman Marissa Mullins (Circleville, Ohio) led the Bridgeport offense in the Route 8 showdown slamming a match-leading 16 kills on 25 attempts with no errors for an impressive .640 hitting percentage in the match.
Mullins was joined in double-digit kills by sophomore Paola Hernandez (Bayamon, P.R.) with 12.
Freshman Lucia Tomiello (Caltrano, Italy) fell just shy of a double-double in the win for Bridgeport, as she amassed nine kills and nine digs on the night.
Sophomore setter Jaden Drollinger (Queens Creek, Az.) found the hot hitter all night long directing the Bridgeport offense with 35 assists. She also led the team with three aces on the evening and chipped in six digs and a pair of kills for the winners.
Freshman Isabella Carmona-Bailey (McKinney, Tex.) led the Bridgeport backline on Tuesday night with a match-high 20 digs.
Up next, the UB volleyball team is back in action in Hubbell Gym on Thursday evening looking for its first home win of the 2022 season when the Purple Knights host Alliance University in a CACC contest. First serve in the Park City is set for 7:00 p.m.
