UB Volleyball Takes The First Set At Holy Family But Drops The Match, 3-1
Setter Jaden Drollinger Finishes One Service Ace Shy Of A Double-Double
Philadelphia, Pa.-The University of Bridgeport women's volleyball took the first set from the host Tigers of Holy Family University, 25-22, on Saturday afternoon in a Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference crossover match in the City of Brotherly Love, but HFU rebound to capture the next three stanzas, 20-25, 22-25, 23-25, to take the match. With loss, the Purple Knights are now 3-12 overall and 2-3 in the CACC. The host Tigers are now a perfect 4-0 in conference action and 6-9 in conference play.
Sophomore Paola Hernandez (Bayamon, P.R.) led three Purple Knights on offense who notched double-digit kills with 17. She was joined in double figures by freshman Marissa Mullins (Centerville, Ohio) with 13 and freshman Lucia Tomiello (Caltrano, Italy) finished with a double-double of with 11 kills and 10 digs.
Sophomore setter Jaden Drollinger (Queens Creek, Az.) finished one service ace shy of a triple-double with 41 assists, 13 digs and nine service aces.
Freshman Isabella Carmona-Bailey (McKinney, Tex.) led the Bridgeport defense with 19 digs on the day.
Up next, the UB women's volleyball team closes out its five-match road swing with a quick trip up Route 8 to take on the Post University Eagles in Waterbury, Conn. On Tuesday evening. First serve is set for 7:00 p.m.
