Purple Knights Fall In Four Sets In CACC Volleyball Action Versus Dominican University New York
Team Opens A Five-Match Road Swing At Franklin Pierce On Saturday
Bridgeport, Conn.-The University of Bridgeport volleyball team fell to 1-2 in Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference play and 2-9 overall so far this season with a four-set home loss (25-13, 23-25, 21-25, 23-25) against the visiting Dominican University New York Chargers on Thursday night in Hubbell Gym. With the victory, the Chargers are now 5-5 overall and 3-0 in conference play.
Freshman Marissa Mullins (Circleville, Ohio) led the Bridgeport offense with 16 kills, as she hit .483 on the night. Marissa also led UB with three block assists in the match, and she added four digs and one service ace plus an assist.
Sophomore Paola Hernandez (Bayamon, P.R.) with 14 and freshman Lucia Tomiello (Caltrano, Italy) with 12 also reached double-digit kills for the Purple Knights in the match.
Sophomore setter Jaden Drollinger (Queens Creek, Az.) finished with a double-double for Bridgeport with 45 assists and 15 digs.
Freshman Isabella Carmona-Bailey (McKinney, Tex.) led the Purple Knights defense with 15 digs in the four sets.
Up next, the UB women's volleyball team opens a five-match road swing with a non-conference match at Franklin Pierce University on Saturday afternoon. First serve in New Hampshire is set for 1:00 p.m.
