Purple Knights Continue To Amass Weekly ECC Volleyball Awards
Freshmen Jaden Drollinger And Paola Hernandez Continue To Add To The Season Recognition Totals
West Babylon, N.Y.-The University of Bridgeport women's volleyball program continued to amass weekly East Coast Conference awards on Monday, as freshmen Jaden Drollinger (Queens Creek, Az.) and Paola Hernandez (Bayamon, P.R.) have been recognized by the ECC for their outstanding play in matches that took place from October 25 through 31, 2021.
Drollinger have been named as the conference Setter of the Week for the third time in 2021, and Hernandez earned her fifth ECC Rookie of the Week nod this season.
Jaden netted double-double 11 and 12 in two Bridgeport wins last week, as she averaged 11.4 assists and 3.1 digs per set helping UB run its winning streak to six. In a win at Queens, Drollinger had 46 assists and 11 digs, and she wrapped up the week with a 34 assist/11 dig performance in a sweep of Molloy. She also chipped in eight kills and three service aces on the week. On the season, Jaden is averaging 10.3 assists per set and leads the team with 41 service aces.
Paola averaged 3.6 kills and 2.9 digs per set in two Bridgeport wins last week to run her team's winning streak to a season-best six triumphs. She also hit .238 on the week. Hernandez also had four assists, three service aces, and two blocks on the week. In a win at Queens, on Tuesday, Paola had a double-double with 12 kills and 16 digs, and she completed the week with 13 kills in a sweep of Molloy. So far this season, she leads UB in kills per set at 3.4.
The UB volleyball team will be busy this week playing three matches, as the Purple Knights host Bentley University of Wednesday evening in Hubbell Gym and then travel to Western New York to take on D'Youville and Daemen over the weekend.
