Volleyball Duo Earns First Team NCAA Division II Academic All-District Honors Selected By CoSIDA
Amanda Hennemann And Breanna Jones Recognized For Their Strong Work In The Classroom And On The Court
Bridgeport, Conn.-University of Bridgeport women's volleyball standouts, senior Amanda Hennemann (Nova Petropolis, Brazil) and sophomore Breanna Jones (Littleton, Colo.) have earned First Team NCAA Division II Academic All-District honors selected by CoSIDA (the College Sports Information Directors of America).
The 2019 Academic All-District® Women's Volleyball Teams, selected by CoSIDA, recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom. The CoSIDA Academic All-America® program separately recognizes volleyball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
Honorees selected First Team Academic All-District® advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® ballot. Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in early December. To be nominated, a student-athlete must be a starter or important reserve with at least a 3.30 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale) at his/her current institution.
An outside hitter with 3.97 grade point average as a Biology major, Hennemann leads the Purple Knights in total kills with 310 and kills per set at 3.16 and averages 2.33 digs per set.
The UB libero, Jones has a 3.93 g.p.a. as a Health Sciences major, and she leads the team with a total of 401 digs so far in 2019. Breanna is also one of the East Coast Conference's and the nation's leaders in service aces per set at 0.53, as she has notched a total of 54 aces in 102 sets played.
The University of Bridgeport women's volleyball team is current ranked number in the NCAA East Regional Rankings, and the Purple Knights will next be in action in the semifinals of the 2019 East Coast Conference Championship Tournament hosted by Molloy College on Friday, November 22.
