Purple Knights Wrap Up 2019 Home Schedule With Four-Set Triumph Over AIC
UB Moves To 21-6 Overall On The Season
Bridgeport, Conn.-The University of Bridgeport women's volleyball team wrapped up its 2019 home schedule on Tuesday night in Hubbell Gym with a four-set, 25-9, 17-25, 25-18, 25-21, non-conference victory over the visiting American International College Yellow Jackets. With the win, UB is now 21-6 overall. AIC slips to 10-15 on the season.
Senior Amanda Hennemann (Nova Petropolis, Brazil) led the Bridgeport offense with 14 kills on Tuesday, and she finished with a double-double recording 12 kills.
Classmate Morgan Knight (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) had eight kills for the winners, and Emily Burford (Sr., Albuquerque, N.M.) plus Makayla Maroney (Sr., Parker, Colo.) each chipped in seven kills for the Purple Knights.
Sophomore Amanda Keller (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) had six kills without an error on 18 swings for UB.
Junior Klein Johnson (San Antonio, Texas) led Bridgeport with 319 assists and contributed 13 digs, and sophomore Carly Killorin (Centennial, Colo.) added 13 assists and eight digs.
Sophomore Breanna Jones (Littleton, Colo.) led the Purple Knights' backline with a match-high 20 digs.
Bridgeport played outstanding defense at the recording 14 total team blocks led by Makayla Maroney and Amanda Keller, who each had seven blocks. Two of Maroney's stuffs were solo blocks.
Up next, the UB women's volleyball team heads to Western New York for matches at Roberts Wesleyan on Saturday at 12 noon and at Daemen College on Sunday afternoon.
