Volleyball Back In Win Column With Straight Sets Road Win Over Franklin Pierce
Team Back In Action At Home On Tuesday Night Versus St. Rose
Rindge, N.H.-The University of Bridgeport women's volleyball team got back in the win column on Friday night with a straight sets, non-conference road triumph over the host Franklin Pierce Ravens. The Purple Knights hit .341 in the opening set as they won 25-19, rallied from a 13-19 deficit to take the second set, 25-23, and cruised to the sweep by winning the third set, 25-16, as they posted a red-hot .378 attack percentage on th night. The victory snaps a six-match losing skid for UB, as the Purple Knights are now 2-7 on the season. FPU is also now 2-7 so far in 2017.
Sophomore Amanda Hennemann (Nova Petropolis, Brazil) led the Bridgeport offense with 15 kills, and she fell just shy of a double-double with nine digs.
Senior Bruna Santos (Curitiba, Brazil) had a fine night on offense for the winners amassing 12 kills with a .478 attack percentage. Bruna also chipped in eight digs on defense.
Senior Sheri Middleton (Humboldt, Kansas) finished just shy of double-digit kills with nine in the match and added three blocks.
Junior setter Ellie Rich (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) directed the Purple Knights' offense on Friday night with 39 assists.
Freshman Olivia Storaci (Longmont, Colo.) led Bridgeport with 11 digs in the victory.
Up next, the UB women's volleyball team returns home looking to start a winning streak on Tuesday night when they host the College of St. Rose Golden Knights. First serve is set for 7:00 p.m. in Hubbell Gym.
