Volleyball Rolls To Eighth Straight Win With Sweep Of Roberts Wesleyan In ECC Action
Biljana Savic Notches Second Consecutive Triple-Double
Bridgeport, Conn.-The University of Bridgeport women's volleyball team rolled to its eighth consecutive victory and twelfth win in its last 13 outings with a 3-0 (25-21, 25-15, 25-19) East Coast Conference home win over the visiting Roberts Wesleyan College Redhawks on Sunday afternoon in Hubbell Gym. UB is now 14-2 overall and 10-1 in conference action. RWC slips to 7-14 overall and 2-11 in the ECC.
Junior Biljana Savic (Novi Sad, Serbia) recorded her second straight triple-double on Sunday recording 13 kills with a red-hot .545 attack percentage, 21 assists and 10 digs. Savic also added one block assist for the winners.
Junior Ying Shen (Nanjing, China) reached double-digit kills for UB with 13 with a .500 attack percentage.
Sophomore Sarah Rosa (Itajuba, Brazil) fell just short of double figures kills with nine.
Sophomore libero Martina Santia (Sezzee, Italy) led the Bridgeport defense with a match-high 14 digs, and junior Larissa Oliveira (Belo Horizonte, Brazil) was strong on defense at the net with five blocks (one solo).
Senior Fernanda Silva (Brasilia, Brazil) helped direct the Purple Knights' offense with 19 assists, and she also chipped seven digs and two kills.
UB will look to run its winning streak to nine on Tuesday evening when the Purple Knights travel to Molloy College to open a two-match ECC road swing. On Thursday, the Purple Knights head to NYIT.
