New Haven Sweeps Volleyball, 3-0
Purple Knights Right Back In Action On Friday Night At Home Versus C.W. Post
Bridgeport, Conn.-The University of New Haven Chargers swept a non-conference volleyball match (3-0) from the host University of Bridgeport Purple Knights on Thursday night. UNH won the match by scores of 25-23, 25-19, 25-21. The victory raises New Haven's season record to 10-4 overall. The Purple Knights are now 8-3 overall.
Freshman Biljana Savic (Novi Sad, Serbia) led Bridgeport with a match-high 16 kills. Savic was joined in double-figure kills by senior Fernanda Costa (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) who had 10 and notched a double-double with 14 digs.
Senior setter Tamara Leite (Natal, Brazil) directed the UB offense with 33 assists.
Senior libero Carolina Lobato (Belo Horizonte, Brazil) also reached double-digit digs with 12.
Keidy Candelaria led New Haven with 12 kills.
UNH dominated the game on defense at the net recording 12 blocks to Bridgeport's four.
UB is right back in action on Friday night when the Purple Knights will look to snap a two-match losing streak with an East Coast Conference match versus C.W. Post. Action gets underway in Hubbell Gym at 6:00 p.m.
