Volleyball Wins Fourth Straight Match With 3-0 ECC Victory At Molloy
Purple Knights Are Now 7-1 Overall And 2-0 In Conference Play
Rockville Centre, N.Y.-The University of Bridgeport women's volleyball raised its 2011 season record to 7-1 overall and remained undefeated in East Coast Conference play at 2-0 with a straight sets, 25-22, 25-20, 25-13, win over the host Molloy College Lions. Molloy is now 5-10 overall and 2-1 in the ECC.
Freshman Biljana Savic (Novi Sad, Serbia) led all players in the match with 14 kills, and she finished the night with a .321 attack percentage (14 k-5 e-28 ta).
Senior Fernanda Costa (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) joined Savic in double-digit kills with 11, and she notched a double-double in the match, as she recorded 10 digs.
Senior setter Tamara Leite (Natal, Brazil) directed the UB offense with a total of 30 assists.
Libero Carolina Lobato (Belo Horizonte, Brazil) led Bridgeport on defense with a game-high 14 digs.
UB freshman Karolina Carlsson (Sodertalje, Sweden) had a fine match behind the serving line recording a total of four aces.
Angelica Nicalek led Molloy with 10 kills.
The Purple Knights are back in action on Thursday night when they travel to Dobbs Ferry, N.Y. to face ECC foe Mercy College. Action is set to get underway at 7:00 p.m.
