Women In Eighth Place And Men In Seventh Place After Day One Of CACC Outdoor Track And Field Championship
Larissa Weber And Joshua Karyea Earn All-Conference Honors
Lakewood, N.J.-Taking part in the teams first-ever conference championship meet, the University of Bridgeport outdoor track and field teams sit in seventh place for the men and eighth place for the women out of 11 teams participating in the 2023 Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference Championship Meet being hosted by Georgian Court University in Lakewood, N.J. The two-day affair will conclude with action on Sunday at GCU.
For the Bridgeport women, freshman Larissa Weber (Purgstall, Austria) took third place in the javelin with a throw of 34.77m to earn Second Team All-CACC honors.
Classmate Emilia Russell (Kingston, U.K.) also scored points for the Purple Knights in the same event by taking eighth place in the javelin with a toss of 28.76m. She also advanced to Sunday's final in the Women's 400m Hurdles with a personal best time by two seconds in the event of 1:10.73.
In the men's pole vault, freshman Joshua Karyea (Nazareth, Pa.) set a personal best of 3.90m to grabbed third place and Second Team All-Conference accolades.
Brandon Adams (Grad., Highland Mills, N.Y.) took seventh place in the men's high jump clearing 1.85m.
