Junior Adeline Martin Wins Two Individual Events But Women's Swimming Falls In Dual Meet At LIU Post
Pioneers Top Purple Knights, 108-86. UB Set For Senior Day Meet Next Saturday At Home Versus St. Peter's
Brookville, N.Y.-The University of Bridgeport women's swimming team traveled to Long Island on Saturday for dual meet at LIU Post featuring two of the premier Division II programs in the region. The host Pioneers found the friendly confines of their home pool to their liking posting a 108-86 win.
Bridgeport junior Adeline Martin (Antibes, France) was a double-winner on Saturday taking first place in the 200 Freestyle (1:53.68) and the 500 Freestyle (5:06.44-season best time).
Teammate Armony Dumur (Sr., Amiens, France) set a pool record at LIU Post and a Bridgeport school record winning the 100 Butterfly in a time of 55.38, which ranks fifth right now in all of Division II.
Also taking first place points in an individual event for the Purple Knights was senior Ilka Oberle (Schwanau, Germany) in the 100 Breaststroke (1:10.23).
The 400 Free Relay team of Martin, freshman Polina Melinikova (Moscow, Russia), junior Alina Sotnikova (Riga, Latvia) and sophomore Tatiana Shepel (Moscow, Russia) took first place points in a time of 3:37.90
The UB women next in action a home on Saturday, February 1 when the Purple Knights host a Senior Day Dual Meet with the men's team against St. Peter's College.
