Swim Teams Open The 2012-13 Season With Home Sweep Of Queens (N.Y.) College
UB Swimmers Touch The Wall First In Every Event In Which They Compete On Friday
Bridgeport, Conn.-The University of Bridgeport swimming teams opened their 2012-13 competitive dual meet schedule on Friday afternoon by sweeping a home meet against the Queens (N.Y.) College Knights. The UB women posted a 115-77 victory over the Knights, and the Purple Knights' men's team topped QC, 103-74.
Bridgeport swimmers touched the wall first in every event in which they competed on Friday afternoon.
For the Purple Knight women on Friday, senior Patrycja Zera (Zabki, Poland) took first place in the 200 and 400 Freestyles, and sophomore Alina Sotnikova (Riga, Latvia) took first in the 50 Freestyle and the 100 Backstroke on Friday.
Graduate student Davide Sitti (Castelnuovo Ramgone. Italy) touched the wall first in both the 200 and 400 Freestyles for men versus Queens.
Also on the men's side, junior NCAA Champion and All-American, Oscar Pereiro (Arzua, Spain) set Spain's Galecian Regional record in the short course 50-meter Backstroke with his lead-off leg time of 25.10 in the Purple Knights' 200 Medley Relay.
The UB women are back in action at home in the Wheeler Recreation Center Natatorium tomorrow, Saturday, October 27 when they host Assumption College at 1:00 p.m. The Bridgeport men return to the pool on Saturday November 3 when they travel to Troy, New York to face the College of St. Rose.
