Bridgeport, Conn.-The University of Bridgeport women's soccer team opened its 2023 home schedule on Friday night at Knights Field by hosting the Hawks of St. Anselm College in a rematch of a 2022 NCAA Division II East Regional First Round contest, and the two teams battled to a 0-0 deadlock. With the tie, Bridgeport is now 1-1-1 on the young season, and St. Anselm is now 0-1-2.
Friday's contest was even throughout with the Hawks finishing with a slight 9-8 edge in shots, and UB taking six corners to only one by St. Anselm.
Both goalkeeper, Angelina Griva (Fr., Zakynthos, Greece) for Bridgeport and Maggie Warner for St. Anselm, each made three saves.
Friday's clean sheet is the first of Griva's collegiate career.
