Bridgeport Women's Soccer Blanks Post, 3-0, To Up Conference Record To 7-0-2
UB Now 8-3-3 Overall And Unbeaten In Its Last 10 Outings
Waterbury, Conn.-The University of Bridgeport women's soccer team raised its Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference record to 7-0-2 and its overall mark to 8-3-3 with a convincing 3-0 road win over the host Post University Eagles on Tuesday afternoon. Bridgeport is now unbeaten in its last 10 matches with seven wins and three ties, and the Purple Knights have posted three straight wins. With the loss, Post is now 8-6-0 overall and 6-2-0 in conference play.
Junior Morgan Dodge (Watertown, Conn.) broke a scoreless tie for UB in the 36th minute of play when she netted her third goal of 2022 off assists from sophomores Amiah Washington (Clifton, N.J.) and Angelina LoFranco (Greenacres, Fla.).
The Purple Knights doubled their advantage just 2:47 into the second half when junior Samantha St. Pierre (Granby, Conn.) put home her third goal of the year off another assist from LoFranco.
St. Pierre would then register an assist for a three-point day, when she recorded the helper on junior Vivien Ruettgers' (Munich, Germany) second goal of the season in the 55th minute to complete the scoring in the match.
Bridgeport outshot Post, 15-6, on the afternoon.
UB sophomore goalkeeper Clara Karlsson (Örnsköldsvik, Sweden) made three saves on the day, including stopping an Eagles' penalty kick attempt in the 65th minute of play, to earn her fifth shutout of the season and keep her record unblemished so far in 2022 at 8-0-3.
Up next, the Bridgeport women's soccer team will head to New Jersey on Saturday afternoon to face the Lions of Georgian Court University. Kickoff is set for 1:00 p.m. in the Garden State.
