Philadelphia, Pa.-The University of Bridgeport women's soccer team battles the host Thomas Jefferson University Rams to a 2-2 tie on Friday afternoon in a battle of two of the premier teams in the Central Atlantic Collegiate Athletic Conference.
UB is now 5-3-3 overall and 4-0-2 in the CACC. The host Rams are now 6-3-1 overall and 5-0-1 in conference play. The Purple Knights are now unbeaten in their last seven matches posting four wins and three draws.
After Jefferson took the lead on an early goal off a free kick just 6:57 into play, UB sophomore Kate Thill (Goetzingen, Luxemburg) tied the match at 1-1 netting goal number seven of the season off an assist from junior Samantha St. Pierre (Granby, Conn.).
The match stayed 1-1 util the 77th minute when Kate struck again for the eighth time in 2022 heading home a corner kick from sophomore Angelina LoFranco (Greenacres, Fla.), but the hosts tied the match at 2-2 on a penalty kick goal with just under three minutes to play.
UB goalkeeper Clara Karlsson (Örnsköldsvik, Sweden) made six saves on the afternoon to stay unbeaten in net on the season at 5-0-3.
Up next, the UB women's soccer team opens a two-match homestand at Knights Field by taking on the Bears of Bloomfield College in a CACC contest on Wednesday night. Game time is set for 6:00 p.m.
