Hempstead, N.Y.-The University of Bridgeport women's soccer team got second half goals from junior Nara DaCosta (Pancas, Brazil) and classmate Maegen Doyle (Harwich, England) to post a big 2-1 East Coast Conference road win over the LIU Post Pioneers in a match played at Hofstra University. UB is now 3-2-0 overall and 1-0-0 in the ECC, and LIU Post is now 2-2-0 overall and 0-1-0 in conference action.
After a scoreless first 45 minutes, LIU Post grabbed a 1-0 lead with a just 4:30 in the second half.
The visiting Purple Knights tied things up at 1-1 when DaCosta netted her third goal of 2018 off an assist from sophomore Abigail Befford (East Brookfield, Mass.) at the 60:07 mark of action.
Doyle scored the Saturday's match-winner, her third goal of the season, when she tallied with just over 11 minutes reaming in regulation.
The host Pioneers outshot Bridgeport, 11-9, on the evening.
UB senior goalkeeper Jennifer Wendelius (Lidingo, Sweden) played a fine game in net for the winners making seven saves to earn the win.
Up next, the Bridgeport women's soccer team is scheduled to travel to Philadelphia, Pa. on Tuesday afternoon for a non-conference tilt against Holy Family University. Match time is slated for 4:00 p.m.
