Seaside, Calif.-The University of Bridgeport women's soccer team opened its trip to California on Saturday afternoon with a hard-fought double overtime, 0-0, draw with the host Cal State Monterey Bay Otters. UB is now 1-2-1 on the season, and Cal State Monterey Bay moves its overall mark to 2-1-1 in 2017.
The host Otters outshot the visiting Purple Knights, 11-10, on the day. UB outshot the hosts 4-1 during the overtime sessions but could not find the back of the net.
Bridgeport junior goalkeeper Jennifer Wendelius (Lidingo, Sweden) earned her second straight clean sheet making six saves on the afternoon.
The UB women's soccer team will wrap up its trip to the West Coast and will look to run its unbeaten streak to three on Monday afternoon with a match against the Gators of San Francisco State University. Match time is slated for 4:00 p.m. Eastern Time.
