Women's Soccer Takes Big ECC Victory With 1-0 Home Shutout Against LIU Post
Purple Knights Now 8-1-0 Overall And 3-0-0 In Conference Action
Bridgeport, Conn.-Junior Hanne Neby (Furnes, Norway) scored the only goal of the match when she fired home a back pass from classmate Amanda Moura (Belo Horizonte, Brazil) into the top corner of the net from near the top of the box just 12:27 into play on Saturday night to help lift the University of Bridgeport women's soccer team to a key, 1-0, East Coast Conference win over the visiting LIU Post Pioneers. The Purple Knights are now 8-1-0 overall and an unblemished 3-0-0 in the ECC. LIUP is now 7-2-1 overall and 1-1-1 in conference play. Neby now has three goals on the season.
UB freshman goalkeeper Jennifer Wendelius (Lidingo, Sweden) made two saves on the night to record her fourth solo shutout of 2015. Wendelius made a huge save early in the match stopping LIU Post's Susanne Vistnes from point blank range with a kick save just8:28 into action. As team, the UB women have notched seven clean sheets as a team.
Up next, the Bridgeport women's soccer team will host Wilmington (Del.) University on Thursday night in a non-conference contest. Kickoff is set for 6:00 p.m. at Knights Field.
