Austin, Texas-The host St. Edward's University Hilltoppers got a goal just over 13 minutes into play and scored again with only one second to play, as they defeated the visiting University of Bridgeport Purple Knights, 2-0, on Sunday afternoon, in a meeting of the number five and number six ranked teams in NCAA Division II women's soccer. The loss is UB's first of 2015, as the Purple Knights are now 5-1-0 overall. St. Ed's ups its record to 4-1-0.
Bridgeport outshot the Hilltoppers, 9-5, on the day, but St. Ed's keeper Lorrie Santoy made four saves to notch the shutout.
Up next, Bridgeport opens East Coast Conference play at Queens (N.Y.) College on Wednesday afternoon at 3:30 p.m.
