Women's Soccer Sees 15-Match Winning Streak End With 2-0 Loss At Queens (N.Y.) In Regular Season Finale
UB Will Be Top Seed In Next Week's ECC Championship Tournament And Will Host Semifinal On November 7th At 6:00 p.m.
Flushing, N.Y.-The University of Bridgeport women's soccer team saw its 15-match winning streak come to end on Wednesday afternoon as the host Queens (N.Y.) College Knights scored a pair of first half goals off corner kicks as they defeated the Purple Knights, 2-0. After closing out its regular season schedule on Wednesday, UB heads into next Thursday's evening East Coast Conference Championship Semifinal with a 15-2-0 overall record and captured the 2013 ECC regular season title with an 8-1-0 conference record. Queens heads into its regular season finale over the weekend at 10-5-1 overall and 5-3-0 on conference play.
On the day, the host Knights outshot Bridgeport, 6-4. Mersina Onesto made one save to record the shutout for Queens.
The UB women's soccer team will now head into the 2013 ECC Women's Soccer Championship Tournament as the top-seeded team and will host the number four seed which is yet to be determined at Knights Field on Thursday evening, November 7. Action will begin at 6:00 p.m.
