Women's Soccer Grabs Win Number 12 In A Row With 2-0 Victory At Philadelphia University
Purple Knights Now 12-1-0 On The Season
Philadelphia. Pa.-The University of Bridgeport women's soccer team got Ffrst half goals from freshmen Tabea Rauschenberger (Mühlacker, Germany) and Amanda Moura (Belo Horizonte, Brazil) plus senior goalkeeper Julia Hansson (Tocksfors, Sweden) made three saves to notch her seventh clean sheet of the season and number 32 of her stellar career in Purple and White, as the Purple Knights posted a 2-0 non-conference women's soccer victory over the host Philadelphia University Rams on Tuesday afternoon in the City of Brotherly Love. The win is Bridgeport's twelfth in a row, as UB, ranked number 16 in the nation by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America, is now 12-1-0 in 2013. Philadelphia U. slips to 2-7-1 on the year.
Rauschberger scored the first goal of the match, her third of the season at the 9:30 mark of the opening half, and Moura gave her team some breathing room with a tally, also her third of the year, at the 32:51 mark.
On the afternoon, UB doubled the Rams in shots, 12-6.
The Purple Knights have now posted eight shutouts as team so far this year.
Next up for the Bridgeport women's soccer team is a trip to Upstate New York for important East Coast Conference matches at Roberts Wesleyan College on Friday at 5:00 p.m. and at ECC newcomer Daemen College at 11:00 a.m. on Sunday.
