Women's Soccer Blanks Stonehill, 1-0, For Sixth Consecutive Victory
UB Now 6-1-0 On The Year
Bridgeport, Conn. – The University of Bridgeport women's soccer team won its sixth match in a row on Thursday afternoon with a 1-0 non-confernece win over the visiting Stonehill College Skyhawks. With the victory UB improves to 6-1-0 on the season, and Stonehill falls to 3-4-1.
Goalkeeper Julia Hansson (Tocksfors, Sweden) earned her third straight clean sheet making one save in the game. Thursday's shutout is Hansson'sfifth for the season.
The two teams were deadlocked late into the first half until junior Danielle Puddefoot (Slough, England) netted the game-winner on an assist from freshman Lauren Mengel (Gilbertsville, Pa.) in the 43rd minute. The goal was Puddefoot's third of the season and second straight game winning goal as she also scored the winner on Saturday versus Dowling.
The Purple Knights will be looking for their seventh in a row when they are back in action on Saturday, September 28 as they take on Mercy College at home in ECC action with the kickoff set for 3:00 p.m.
