Danielle Puddefoot Nets Game-Winning Goal Late In First Half
Bridgeport, Conn.-Junior Danielle Puddefoot (Slough, England) scored the only goal of the afternoon when she flicked home a high cross from freshman Tabea Rauschenberger (Mühlacker, Germany) with just over five minutes to play in the first half, as the University of Bridgeport women's soccer team picked up a key East Coast Conference home win over the #20 Dowling College Golden Lions on Saturday afternoon by a 1-0 score. Saturday's victory is the Purple Knights fifth in a row, and UB is now 5-1-0 overall and 2-10- in ECC action. Dowling is now 4-1-1 overall and 2-1-0 in conference play. Puddefoot's goal is her second of the season.
Bridgeport senior goalkeeper Julia Hansson (Tocksfors, Sweden) picked up her fourth clean sheet of the year making two saves. UB was dominating on defense allowing the Golden Lions only five total shots on the afternoon.
The Bridgeport women's soccer team will look to run its winning streak to six matches in a row on Thursday afternoon, September 26 when the team plays the third match of a five match homestand when Stonehill College comes to Knights Field. Non-conference action is slated to begin at 4:00 p.m.
